Delhi Captain Virender Sehwag smashed an unbeaten 94 to destroy the star-studded Deccan Chargers for 9 wickets in the match held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal in Hyderabad.
Even the mass ground support, home turf advantage and a valiant half-century by young Rohit Sharma could not avoid the second consecutive defeat of Deccan chargers, which was arguably the best side when the tournament begins.

Chasing a target of 142, Delhi Daredevils lost an in-form Goutham Gambhir, 12. But Sehwag, who found a partner in Shikher Dhawan, was on a rampage. He smashed 10 hits to the fence and six huge ones over it to reach the target in just 13 overs, the biggest victory so far in this tourney. Dhawan scored 25 in 28 balls, which include 3 boundaries.

Earlier, Young Rohit Sharma's belligerent half century gave Deccan Chargers a fighting total. Once again the strong batting line up of Deccan, comprising Gilchrist, Symonds, Laxman and Afridi failed miserably in a batting track.

Sharma entered when the Chargers were struggling for 60 for 5. Sharma's sensible batting kept the show going. He charged Maharoof for two huge sixes and three fours in one over, before being sent back to pavilion by Bhatia. Gilchrist promised a lot with a huge six off Pakistan import Muhamad Asif. But Asif had the last laugh as he bowled Gilly.

Pakistan pace spearhead gave a double blow to the chargers when he clean bowled Chargers captain Laxman in his second over.

Parves Mahroof removed a Struggling Venugopal Rao and dangerous Andrew Symonds, while Bhatia removed Rohit Sharma and Shahid Afridi. Glen McGrath tested the batsmen with his line and length.
